3E Internship

Equip the Saints

Empower Servant Leadership

Extend Christ's Ministry

Program Overview

3E is an intensive internship at the Youth Farm Bible Camp. The program is designed to train young adults (age 18-25) in spiritual maturity and be equipped with industry-recognized leadership skills to lead in all aspects of camping and through this to demonstrate, share, and shine the love of Jesus on lives. 3E empowers young adults to grasp, utilize, and enlarge their God-given gifts, talents, and interests as they are immersed in Christian ministry. It incorporates Christian discipleship, intentional mentoring, leadership training, and personal development. We are looking for young adults to partner with us in Christian camp ministry to provide a place for them to grow in their relationship with Jesus, to share Jesus with others, and to serve others.

Being located at YFBC allows many different opportunities for those in the program to learn and develop the skills needed in leadership. The program provides a flexible experience blending individual interests with the needs of YFBC Through training, combined with hands-on experience, interns learn valuable lessons about leadership and the responsibilities that come with it.

Completing the Internship Program provides discipleship and spiritual formation, biblical hospitality, servanthood, and a stepping stone for future ministry, training, and work. Interns will have built relationships, been involved in ministry and leadership, and will have been exposed to all aspects of camp administration. The supportive community of YFBC is incredibly powerful in unlocking and releasing young people to know and live out God’s plan for their lives.

Anyone who has a passion to impact this generation for God and enjoys a personal, living relationship with God through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit in his/her life is welcome and encouraged to pursue an internship at YFBC. An intern position at YFBC is demanding. However, the rewards are massive as we have witnessed for many decades of seeing campers’ and retreaters’ lives transformed at YFBC. We encourage you to pursue God – pray and get into His Word. The staff at YFBC is committed to helping you discern if this is God’s will for your life.

This is a full-time, year-long (September-August) experience involving behind-the-scenes work, up-front interaction with campers, staff and guests, training in youth and adults with special needs ministry skills, academic training, an out of the country service trips, and personal and spiritual development.

Hands-on Experience

Each intern will be participating in hands-on service during the Corn Maze and retreat season (September-October) to expose them to every area of camp ministry such as, food service, housekeeping, maintenance, program design, program implementation, marketing and promotion, guest services, facilitation of activities, event planning, and many more.

Through out our ‘off-season’, you will participate in tasks such as administrative, maintenance, animal care, promotional, design, fundraising, and day-to-day tasks required to run a camp ministry.

During the summer months, each intern will be an integral part of the camp program and will be assigned a different leadership role. These are subjects that could change from week to week and will depend on the specific skills of the intern and the needs of the Youth Farm Bible Camp summer staff and camp program.  YFBC runs 9 weeks of camp (5 weeks for ASN and 4 kids) from June to August.

Learning and Service Trip

The interns will join the YFBC annual trip to Mexico to build a house with Amor Ministries, also be going to Nicaragua for another mission trip and, with the possibility for a third trip. In preparation for these trips, interns will have some book studies and cross-culture conversations.

Supervision & Evaluation

Supervision

The intern will be directly supervised by the Leadership Team. Interns are to meet daily with leadership to get direction and feedback. In addition, the intern will meet weekly for spiritual development and leadership guidance. If at any time during the internship a performance or discipline issue is identified, the intern will be instructed by the Camp Director on a course of action. Clear direction, expected results, and repercussions will be discussed, and an improvement plan will be disclosed.

Evaluation

By the end of the internship, interns are expected to have experienced the following three areas.

Camp Operations - Interns will be trained and assessed in all areas of camping, as well as gaining a basic understanding of the camp-wide operations of YFBC and Christian ministry work as a whole.

Discipleship - Interns are required to have a mentor, read books, grow in leadership through training and experience, spend time in solitude and study, and seek to learn from a variety of camp staff in different settings.

Servanthood - Interns will grow in their understanding of what it means to live under Jesus' model of servant leadership. We strongly believe we are called to offer a place of refuge, rest, and spiritual renewal to churches, families, and individuals. As a result, we want to provide spaces where our guests can feel at home so that God can open up their hearts to His work.

The intern will be given an evaluation by December and March to ensure interns are on the right path in all three internship areas above. Opportunities will be given to discuss goals and achievements and to make any adjustments to each individual intern’s program.

During the final month of the program, the intern is to complete a written report on the results on the internship, including how it prepared them for their future, specific goals achieved while in the program, and additional feedback on the program as a whole. While the paper is not graded, it is a requirement for the successful completion of the internship program.

Finances

YFBC Interns are paid employees for six months of the year (September, October and May-August). From November-April is when training, retreats, impact trips, and education takes place. During these six months, YFBC will provide housing (with your own kitchen) and a stipend to pay for your food costs. You will be required to fund raise an amount for the impact trips that you will be going on. In 2022, interns raised $3500 to go to Nicaragua for 5 weeks and Mexico for 1 week.  What a great experience this year can be, you should be able to even save money throughout the 12 months!!

Concentred Areas & Book for 2021-2022

Equip the Saints (Spiritual Formation Focus)

“The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors, and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love”.

“So, if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us”.

Thank You

Thank you for your desire to serve others at YFBC through a year-long internship. We challenge you to pray about becoming a servant, dying to self, and modelling Christ to the next generation, while learning what it takes to serve in the ministry field of God’s Kingdom.  It is our hope that you go where God will teach you most, where you will be used to show the world around you the reality of God and the wisdom of following His ways.
