Third Way In early 16th Century western culture there was one all encompassing church - the Roman Catholic church. However, it was during this century that the church changed in a significant way. The protestan reformation, with it's leaders Martin Luther and John Calvin, resisted the Catholic church. Read more about the Protestant Reformation - history and reforms. Out of this religious revolution came the anabaptists. A group of people who went farther then the Calvinists and Lutherans. A sect that differed in views of infant baptism and a united church and state. A third way.
