Head Cook Job Description

Two-three month position
Responsible to the Executive Director

  • Prepare menus for the various camps
    Purchase the food according to budget and guidelines indicated by the Board.
  • Prepare and serve the meals
  • Ensure the kitchen area is kept sanitary, presentable and attractive.
  • Abide by Department of Health regulations.
  • Arrange for (this includes recruiting) and manage the kitchen help; including assistants and younger helpers. Also have daily devotions with the kitchen staff.
  • Consult with the Program Director as to schedules, menu specifics, and any problems incurred.
  • Ensure that the food services works toward fulfillment of the camp purpose.
  • At the end of summer camp clean the kitchen and ensure that excess supplies are returned, sold or dispersed.
  • Provide an evaluation of the summer. This report is to include resource information for future head cooks. (Sample menus and Supply lists, etc.)
