Program Director Job Description

Three to Four month position
Responsible to Executive Director

Purpose of the Camp: To provide an environment/program where campers can experience God, His salvation plan, grow in their Christian faith and enjoy themselves through the activities and relationships. Experience God, Meet Friends, Have Fun!

The Program Director helps fulfill the purpose of the camp and ensures that all aspects of the camp program are organized. They oversee the operations of the camp on a daily basis and provide smooth operation of the program.

In May and June, the leadership team of the camp will meet with the Executive Director weekly to find out responsiblities, give reports, share and pray together.

Responsiblities:
Give overall leadership to the summer camp program at YFBC.
Manage the Staff: includes assigning duties, training (Skills area, Bible teaching) and ensuring that the staff are fulfilling their expectations.
Ensure that all camp policies are carried out.
Develop a Staff Handbook along with the Executive Director.
Ensure that cabins are ready for summer staff.
Prepare skill curriculum, facilities and equipment.
Ensure that the camp is kept presentable and sanitary.
Discuss and develop ownership of camp goals with summer staff on an ongoing basis.
Conduct mid-season evaluation with staff of SPD performance and progress towards camp goals.
Plan with Executive Director the on-site portion of the staff training.
Plan for emergencies and train staff to deal with them.
Lead or coordinate daily and weekly staff meetings and devotions.
Plan daily schedules for the Children camps, Adult Special Need camps, Day Camp and Teen Adventure Week.
Monitor physical well being of campers, e.g. sufficient rest, cleanliness, changing clothes.
Be aware of and mediate relationship problems between staff.
Encourage staff in daily duties.
Plan evening campfires based on the spiritual needs of the campers.
Plan a closing program to interpret the week's program to parents.
Provide and carry out any camper follow-up. Consult with the Board liaison for direction.
Develop resources that can be used by counselors for Cabin Devotions.
After the camp weeks are over:
Prepare a report on the summer. It is to include the following:
a) General evaluation of the summer
b) Specific evaluation of counselors.
c) Specific evaluation of each camp week
d) Recommendations


Pray for the camp, the Leadership, and the rest of the staff.
